Where I talk to you about linguistics and anthropology, science fiction and fantasy, point of view, grammar geekiness, and all of the fascinating permutations thereof...
The online magazine First Things has a thought-provoking article right now about the relationship between sf/f and religion. It's here, if you're curious.
Pretty interesting article--lots of stuff I didn't know and authors to seek out. Thanks for sharing! (if I may grouch, though, I expected a somewhat larger purview, and was very much disappointed that "religion" turned out to be a somewhat US-centred version of the Christian faith).
Well, Aliette, you're right about the Christian centrism of the article, but I still thought that within its purview it was pretty thorough. If I come across any articles about broader world religions in sf of course I'll pass them on. Let me know if you find any yourself!
